How an export order works
Whether it is your first import from India or your hundredth, the steps are the same — and we walk you through each one.
Enquiry
Share the grade, quantity, destination port and any buyer specifications.
Samples
We send samples of the grades you shortlist so your team can approve the quality.
Contract
Price, packing, shipment date and payment terms are agreed in writing.
Packing & papers
Your lot is packed for sea or air, and the export documents are prepared.
Shipment
Goods are handed to the carrier and the documents are sent to you for clearance.
The documents that travel with your shipment
Clearance at your port depends on getting the papers right. These are the documents a typical cardamom shipment carries; your market may ask for more, and we will arrange them.
Exact requirements depend on the destination country and your contract.
Why importers buy direct from a grower
- Traceable to one plantation, not a mix of unknown lots
- Grade and moisture controlled before packing, not after
- One contact for quality, price and shipping questions
- Able to supply at short notice from our own stock
- Black pepper available on the same shipment
Sea freight or air freight?
Both work well for cardamom. The right one depends on your quantity and how quickly you need it.

By sea
The economical choice for larger lots.
- Lowest cost per kilo
- Suited to pallet and container loads
- Longer transit — plan ahead

By air
The fast choice for smaller or urgent orders.
- Days, not weeks
- Good for trial orders and top-ups
- Higher freight cost per kilo
Who pays for what: common shipping terms
International contracts use standard terms (Incoterms) to split costs and risk between seller and buyer. These are the ones cardamom buyers most often use.
| Term | We handle | You handle | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| FOB — Free On Board | Packing, export clearance, loading at the Indian port | Sea freight, insurance, import clearance | Buyers with their own shipping line |
| CFR — Cost and Freight | Everything in FOB, plus freight to your port | Insurance, import clearance | Buyers who want freight arranged |
| CIF — Cost, Insurance, Freight | Everything in CFR, plus cargo insurance | Import clearance at your end | First-time importers |
Packed to survive the journey
A long sea voyage means heat, humidity and handling. Export packing is designed to keep the pods dry and green all the way.
- Moisture-barrier inner liners
- Strong outer bags or cartons
- Clear marks: grade, lot, weight, destination
- Palletised on request

Moisture

Litre weight
A density figure that shows how full the pods are.

Bag type, pack weight and your label or marks.
